out of the grip

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
- Jim Elliot
For the first time, I visited the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art).If you've never been there before, it's situated in quite the piece of city earth. >> beside a park with beautiful architecture surrounding. There's nothing like the sound of fountain waters ... and grass on a 73 degree friday. :) i loved this poster too that was on the garden path wall.
I lost my cell phone there. Somewhere between the SFMOMA entrance (where we were serinaded by a man begging for money... it was a "before sunrise" moment kind of..., if you've seen the film...) and the place we snagged lunch, My cell phone vanished. I have to say, there was not one sad bone in my body (wherever did we get that phrase? it's such an odd one...). My hands are attached to car keys, house keys, a cell phone, and all the accessories that make up a "normal" Santa Cruz lifestyle. I am grateful for every gadget. But I am so grateful when they are taken away & I am reminded that they are nothing. Nothing at all. I've loved being out of the grip of immediate communication that isn't really, for the most part, deep or lasting. My replacement comes in the mail tomorrow. :) So, I will be able to "halla halla" (I say that with my wanna-be black girl ghetto voice :)...) once again.
