saying a final goodbye to greece (sant. + athens)

Coming up on Santorini from the slow ferry ... the caldera (the volcano-torn cliffs) and the beautiful white world of Oia... there's the port too... with the crooked descent down there from above.

My FAVORITE hour ... the hour after sunset. Oia family fisher-people.

The great house of the philosopher fathers of thought. The Agora in Athens.

Red beach, Santorini ... where Bob & I sunbathed. No, he didn't join the speedo masses. :)

This was a REAL moment. Sunset at my favorite swimming hole -- Oia.

To get there, you hiked down a thousand steps to the pier, passed all of the cafes, and then trekked over rocks for a ways. SO wonderful.

After a sunset dive at that very spot.

My Oia Hostel. This FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY 50-year-old Greek man owned it --he had a bulletin board of photos of him and his wife and Angelina Jolie :0). We had a full on breakfast every morning -- eating on the roof overlooking the sea in the shade.

A hammar-dulcimer player by full-moonlight under the Acropolis in Athens. Otherworldly sound. (My mother owns one + plays the lap dulcimer.)
