Music & Lyrics. #

(This is not about the movie
of the same name.)

This post is in honor of the artists
-- quite the selection--
that have sparked
thought
and smiles
and head-bopping of different stylings
(based on the genre responded to. :)...).

And... This post is in honor of the Art that makes life
paradoxically more personal and more shared,
paradoxically time-capsuled and timeless
more alive and
more human.

Here's an odd assortment of Sounds that have the capability of bringing unforeseen joy & enjoyment. Dabble. Dabble. :)

Song pick: Big City Life

Big City Life,
Me try fi get by,
Pressure nah ease up no matter how hard me try.
Big City Life,
Here my heart have no base,
And right now Babylon de pon me case.
People in a show,
All lined in a row.
We just push on by,
It's funny,
How hard we try.
...
The Linguist across the seas and the oceans,

A permanent Itinerant is what I've chosen.
I find myself in Big City prison, arisen from the vision of mankind.
Designed, to keep me discreetly neatly in the corner,
You'll find me with the flora and the fauna and the hardship.
Back a yard is where my heart is still I find it hard to depart this Big City Life.

Song Pick: Old Man

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
...
Old man look at my life,
Twenty four,
And there's so much more
Live alone in a paradis
e
That makes me think of two.
...
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.
...
I've been first and last
look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.
...
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
...

(The two boys in this band are old friends. Gabe Combs and I did music together in high school, he taught me piano, and we did drama competitions together and with the youth group we were a part of. Nate Cole was at the music competitions that our school went to every year. It's been quite a ride. I even met up with them along the way in their Nashville season. Their song "Remember When" relays the chronicle of it all. Now they're both married and on this amazing adventure. This band is freaking-wonderful. Style in every way.)

Song Pick: The Story

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am

So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true... I was made for you

I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Oh because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do and I was made for you

You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what I've been through like you do
And I was made for you.
...

SUMMARY

Living with a boy that loves techno/house and another that likes strange indie/80's has expanded my attention span & interest.

So, cheers to life improvements and world-widening because of influence.
Cheers to the sounds that put a new spin on the everyday.
Cheers to LA MUSICA.
Music, I miss you.
