These NY sketches are from one of the core magazines of the last century. I stumbled upon their cover art while on
images.google.com's wonders.

I don't want to mark captions-- or make comments. Their life commentary-- specific to New York life (mentality, history, influence, tensions, reputation, lifestyle, ...)-- and speak for themselves. Some of these covers date back to the 1920's... (You can click on the images themselves to see them better in enlarged form...)
