saying a final goodbye to greece ( DELPHI )

Delphi was a MAGICAL MAGICAL place. I travelled there with mother-&-daughter duo Margaux & Sybil from Alaska -- who were a part of my TEFL course in Korinthos. We took a 1.5 hour bus to Athens & then a 3 hour bus to Delphi --> high in the mountains of northwest Greece. Delphi was the religious (the Oracle), cultural (yearly games/competitions/art-faires), and political (the A--- league of Greek city states) center of the Ancient world. The mountains scream out the history in deafening silence that draws the soul in to listen. Poweful. Magical.

All over Greece, there are boxes like this one, on posts, dug into the ground . These are shrines in gratitude for a miracle that took place on that very spot or a tradgedy. This one was cliff-side overlooking the Delphi mountains.

Outside the bus window >> Greek writing and all... :) >> The mountains start to show their faces.

The view from our hotel balcony. The sea and a seaside town in the distant distance. :0)

Me on the modern Delphi streets (with Margaux & Sybil walking ahead).

In Greece, they have "built-in" welcome mats. This one was housed at the doorframe of our hotel in Delphi. You can see the faded symbol of "eternity" around its perimeter... the square-shaped spiral. The waves above are the waters of the Sea-- the symbol of change and the unexpected.

The best car sticker in the world. Delphi street-side. :0)

Our hotel in Delphi. The owner was the mayor. :)

I have entitled this photo as: "my heart". This metal sculpture-- which was in the center of a line of national flags-- on the edge of the cliff along the road to Ancient Delphi >> embodies a sense of reaching and passion that IS so so so real to my heart.
