Exercising & Experiencing
QUality of Life. (QUoL).

I was on the PATH train this afternoon from Jersey to the City and these came to me... I randomly jotted. Ideas for experiencing. Ideas for exercising QUality of Life without emptying the wallet or entering into gimme-buy-me-take-me-ness.

Just because some of us are adults--
serious students--
parents--
working working adults--
doesn't mean we can't.

I'm in.
I want to re-do some of these that I've done
and do others I haven't yet.

Are you in?

Add to the list!!!!!!!
(and I know you want to clown on me-- but that's ok. :) ...)

  • Find & Purchase new music (BUT in the Old School or Indie genres only).
  • Wikipedia the history of your particular town (&/or your town of origin).
  • Handwrite a letter and mail it (and buy stamps in order to repeat the action).
  • Do something active FOR FUN'S SAKE-- not solely for EXERCISE'S sake:
    • hike
    • kayak (rent one for a couple hours)
    • padal boat
    • ride bikes
    • rent a bike-built-for-two
    • walk from your house to make a chain of house calls on your friends
    • horseback-ride
  • Prank call a friend (key word: a FRIEND)
  • Joke around, speaking in voices and impersonations with friends
  • Revitalize an inside-joke
  • Throw a just-because theme party
  • Do a photo shoot of your town from a creative angle
  • Rearrange your furniture-- put new art on the walls
  • Buy & Read a classic
  • Go to a vintage/thrift shop and create fashion for yourself
  • Send a postcard from your town (they probably exist!) to a friend or family out-of-town
  • Boycot email & myspace for a week
  • Cook at home-- or eat from-home foods (pack lunches!)-- for a week
  • Wear flip-flops in the rain
  • Walk into the ocean-- or Jump into a pool-- with all your clothes and shoes on
  • Take public transport for a day
  • Make a list and send it to your best friend or lover -- of all you appreciate about them (shared memories, their character/personality, whatever)
  • Go down memory lane. (Read old blog entries, journals. Look at old pics.) & Take someone with you. <-- remind a friend or family member of the goodness of the past.
  • Go see a movie alone. More than once.
