(((((( A Christmas What-If...

What would happen if...
we redistributed the 7 billion dollars spent on Halloween in the US? What if we went one step further and redistributed the 450 billion dollars spent on Christmas? What would happen if we decided to re-think how we give to each other and show each other that Life is only Life because love exists, hope exists, relationships exist. What would happen if we channelled our dollars towards the 200 billion dollar need for clean water on the continent of Africa? the 150 billion dollar need of reducing intra-continental debt? What would happen if we channelled our energies of love and giving in the forms of giving our time to each other-- quality time of being together? or if we decided to make something with our own hands-- reducing costs and channelling it to something lasting. It's amazing how many items have been tossed or given to the Salvation Army and yet scrawled child-drawn art pieces have been saved for decades upon decades-- often displayed in prominent places in homes.... What would happen if this next generation decided to value all that we love about the Holidays in a different form? Still giving-- still celebrating-- still spending-- still enjoying it all-- but in a different form.
How would that change CULTURE?

How would that impact the LIVES of real, living, breathing individuals on every continent?

How would that change the FUTURE of the WORLD?

Reality is that the priorities are:
People people people and nature.

How can we use our heads, hearts and means
so that those priorities are where are spending for, working towards, channelling energy on behalf of?

This CAN'T just be a what-if. What would REALLY HAPPEN if it was more...?

... and... I found some tips online about how to start by being mindful of the environment during this month! Check them out...

Stop Global Warming holiday tips:

- Choose energy-efficient LED holiday lights, which use 80% less energy.
- Select alternatives to wasteful paper gift wrapping -- scarves, newspaper, reusable boxes, tins and jars. If you buy paper, always choose recycled and save wrapping for re-use.
- Give the gift of an experience, rather than material goods, and save resources. Ideas include: theatre and concert tickets; museum memberships; and season tickets to sporting events.
- Shop early and avoid overnight shipping. Ground shipping saves more fuel than air shipping.
- Buy cards made from post-consumer recycled paper, or send holiday email greetings.
- Buy a living tree and plant it after the holidays.

Wow you've been busy! Nice post here. I have to agree. What would we happen if we thought about problems like that: "What if..." "We could..."! The tricky thing is making that come home. What can I do? Hm. "Therein lies the rub".

On a note non collegato. If you're into music, this is my best recommendation (besides Sufjan Stevens):
